When spliting your weight training up (Chest-arms one day,Tris-Back the next) how many exercises should you do per muscle? Say today I’m working arms and chest…I currently do 4 sets of exercises per muscle, is that too much or just about right?

Tips regarding bodybuilding and reaching plateau?

Denis C asked:

Two questions. First of all in bad habit i’ve been doing the same routine since july. I’ve goten more ripped on the muscles i work but it was quick and has remained the same for a long long time. I forgot the plateau effect which meant to switch up from my routine once in a while. I do 2 machines per muscle. chest , up back , low back. shoulders. abs. legs.

What routine or what kind of switch up would u recommend to keep the plateau effect from refraining me. So far i got 2 machines per muscle so i don’t know if i should just get 4 machines per muscle and switch every 2 times i go or if i should do something more extreme or more often.

2nd question. My goal is to finish losing that belly. And have my body be defined. I don’t want to increase mass like a mad man. Inevitably it will a bit, but i’m not aiming for a wrestle body. I want it to be very defined but while maintaining a small body. For a example, say bruce lee. Not huge, but fit and defined. Is there something I should watch out for that? To not increase too much mass muscle? Or if i’m just eating normal and working out will do the trick? Aka not eating special supplemental food with mass increasing supplements.

Thanks for your help in advance :)
